EMS - Entrepreneur Mentoring Support
Entrepreneur Mentoring Support (since 2017) is based on MIT's successful Venture Mentoring Program in Boston. Driven by a “giving back” principle, a number of Frisian entrepreneurs crossed the ocean years ago, seeking inspiration from the American mentoring program, and brought it to the north.
In group sessions, mentors contribute ideas about strategic choices in the short and long term. The program is accessible to both ambitious startups and SMEs with growth potential.

The strength lies in being able to spar with a top entrepreneur on neutral ground.
The EMS program does not offer the answers, but it does provide the process to make clear choices yourself.
As a driven entrepreneur, EMS connects you with experienced mentors who selflessly think along with you. So you can take your next step with confidence and focus. As an entrepreneur, you sometimes face choices that you don't want to make alone. There is a lot of potential in the Northern Netherlands, with great companies and plenty of growth opportunities. Your growth starts with people around you with a lot of expertise.
You're probably building something special. Sometimes you know exactly where you want to go, sometimes you're at a crossroads. In those moments, it is very valuable to be able to spar with someone who has already walked that path. Someone who, without self-interest, thinks along with you with attention and critically.
For whom
EMS is for entrepreneurs in Groningen, Drenthe and Friesland who want to grow, reflect and set their course in a targeted manner.
What do you get
You will have two to three experienced mentors alongside you: entrepreneurs with a proven track record and diverse areas of expertise. Not to tell you what to do, but to challenge you and help you discover what might be of interest to you.
I really feel supported by people who know how to build and manage a company and who keep me sharp as an entrepreneur and as a person. The guidance via EMS is spot-on. My mentoring team fits seamlessly into my field: One of my mentors has run an international advertising agency himself, another is a powerful brand builder, and the latter brings strategic insight from water management and sustainability. This mix of expertise makes every conversation relevant. We go in-depth into themes such as positioning, team growth and commercial strategy. It feels like a high-level think tank, tailored exactly for my company Wettermerk.
